I was so happy to see a tweet the other day from fatgayvegan, talking about an all vegan cafe that recently opened in Hackney Wick called Piadina Genuina. I had a look at the location and was pleased to find that it is a short walk from my flat! So off we went to give it a try.

Looking at the menu board I was slightly overwhelmed and wanted to try everything. Not knowing what a piadina was before this experience, I was delighted to find that it is a freshly made flatbread, filled with tasty bits. I decided to go for a kebab style piadina with seitan, and my partner opted for the sausage piadina. Both were delicious and full of freshly prepared things like hummus, roast potatoes, and rocket.

Not only was the food flavourful, but the cafe itself was also really cute inside. I took mine to go, but next time I will be staying in to relax with lunch and a coffee.

The man who runs the show, single handedly at the minute, was really lovely to chat to and wasn’t bothered by my manic dog screaming outside for me (he was with my partner, but cannot handle not being able to sit on me for 5 minutes.)

I can’t wait to try the Sunday roast piadina next time!

Its so exciting seeing so many new vegan spots popping up in East London. I am feeling incredibly spoiled for choice over here.
